Gillen Invites Berks Military Veterans to Expo
READING – Rep. Mark Gillen (Berks/Lancaster) is inviting veterans and their family members from Berks and Lancaster counties to join him at a Veterans Expo on Thursday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Barn at Flying Hills.

“As the son of a World War II veteran, I believe that preserving the stories and memories of those who served is of vital importance,” Gillen said. “Veterans are heroes who continue to serve our community.”

There will be more than a dozen exhibitors from local, state and federal agencies, and organizations that have services tailored to help veterans in a variety of areas.

The Vet Mobile – a traveling center equipped to match eligible veterans with their earned benefits and register them on the spot – will be at the expo.

“We previously hosted the Vet Mobile and had such great feedback from our constituents, we decided to have it back,” Gillen said.

Representatives from the Reading Hospital also will be on hand to perform various medical screenings, including pulmonary function and blood pressure tests.

Veterans Making a Difference will be accepting donations of non-perishable food, clothing and blankets.

The expo also will feature a “mess hall” complete with refreshments and food donated by local businesses for visitors to enjoy.

“I am looking forward to this event, which we sincerely hope will prove to be a comprehensive, informative experience for our veterans of all ages,” Gillen said.

The Barn at Flying Hills is located at 10 Village Center Drive in Reading.

Constituents with questions about the Veterans Expo should contact Gillen’s district office at 610-775-5130.
