Apr. 05, 2024
DOUGLASSVILLE - On Friday, April 12, from 9:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m., representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue will visit the Berks Encore Douglassville Wellness & Activity Center (
2144 Weavertown Rd., Douglassville, PA 19518) to assist Berks County residents with filing their Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PA-1000) applications and/or their Pennsylvania Personal Income Tax (PIT) returns (PA-40).
While additional dates and times are being scheduled for upcoming months in 2024, the April 12 date is the ONLY date that will offer PIT assistance. Please know, too, that the Berks Encore Douglassville center is the ONLY Berks County location scheduled for an April visit. Interested constituents are encouraged to call in advance to determine eligibility and to make an appointment. I invite you to
visit Revenue’s website for the latest information on when and where future tax assistance will be available.
As a reminder, the PA-1000 program benefits Pennsylvania’s homeowners and renters who are (as of December 31, 2023) aged 65 and older; widows and widowers aged 50 and older; and people with disabilities aged 18 and older. The maximum household income to qualify in 2023 has been increased to $45,000 (with only 50% of Social Security income counted). The deadline to apply for a rebate is June 30, 2024.
Meanwhile, Pennsylvanians looking for help with their PA-40 must bring their tax information/income statements and a state-issued photo identification card (eg. a driver’s license). Taxpayers who received in excess of $33 in total gross taxable income during 2023 must file a PIT tax return by midnight, Monday, April 15, 2024, to avoid late-filing penalties.
