HARRISBURG – Rep. Mark Gillen (R-Berks) today announced the awarding of more than $825,000 in state funding for community improvements in the 128th Legislative District. Gillen played a key role in securing the Local Share Account (LSA) grants for the projects.
“These grants play a significant role in helping to provide the necessary equipment to maintain functional systems and services for our communities and their residents,” said Gillen. “I was happy to advocate for approval of the grant applications for these projects.”
The local grants include:
• Amity Township – $169,735 to purchase equipment to maintain the sewer system.
• Birdsboro Borough – $153,930 to repair the East First Street bridge.
• Birdsboro Borough – $114,176 to purchase a dump truck.

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
