Gillen Invites Residents to Blood Drive
9/7/2017
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Mark Gillen (R-Berks/Lancaster) invites local residents to join him at the Dairy Queen near Shillington on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 2-7 p.m. at the seventh annual Miller-Keystone Blood Drive, where they could help save a life by donating blood or just talk with him about state government-related issues.

“I’m looking forward to this event and hope we’ll have a lot of people who want to donate blood and talk about what’s going on in state government,” Gillen said. “The blood we donate at this event could mean the difference between life and death for the person who is receiving it. Every time you donate blood, you could potentially be saving a life.”

The Dairy Queen near Shillington is located at the intersection of Route 625 and Route 724.

Each blood donor will receive a free Dairy Queen ice cream cake.

Those who would like to donate blood should contact Representative Gillen’s office by calling 610-775-5130 to schedule an appointment. Blood donors are asked to bring a valid form of photo identification with them.

Representative Gillen will take time at the event to meet with blood donors and talk to them about state government programs, services and issues.

“I enjoy talking with local residents and listening to their thoughts and concerns regarding state government,” Gillen said. “Someone may bring up a problem they’re experiencing with a state agency and we may be able to help them or point them in the right direction.”

Gillen said he always looks forward to the annual blood drive and the opportunity to see the generosity of the community.

“I’m always inspired when I meet and talk with people at the blood drive,” Gillen said. “The people who donate blood will never know who benefitted from their good deed. Donating blood is an act of pure kindness for a stranger in need.”
