Gillen Votes for Budget Bill Approved by House
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Mark Gillen (R-Berks/Lancaster) today in Harrisburg released the following statement after voting in favor of the budget bill approved by the state House:
“This bipartisan budget product must be viewed as a starting point that properly prioritizes investments in early childhood education through college, while holding down overall year-over-year spending to under 1 percent.
“It would be preferable to have finished all elements of our budget work today, but beginning with a commitment to properly prioritize spending with no new taxes is an important first step. I expect ongoing negotiations will enable us to complete the budget process in the coming days while protecting Pennsylvania's most vulnerable citizens as we respect the taxpayers.”
